SPATIAL THINKING

‘Bird’s eye view’ map of the room

What do you see from up there? What shapes do you see? Create a simple plan ‘bird’s eye view’ of room using photographs / cut-outs of objects, thinking about the relative position (directions) of different objects in the room, and using special words (“next to,” “near,” “far,” and “between”) to describe the relative location. Find hidden toy/object in the room.

Map

We all live in different ‘layers’ of a places (home, neighborhood, city, state, country, continent, and the world), each with its own characteristics. These layers influence our perspectives on the world. Create a map/diagram representing the places you inhabit, starting from the innermost circle (home) to the outermost (the world). Label each layer and personalize your maps. Tell it.
